
Scholarships under the scheme "10 year scholarship" given to students
of the Economics University of HCMC
In the morning of Dec, 22nd, 03, Prudential organised
ceremony to deliver scholarships worth VND58 million to 23
students of the Economics University of HCM. The scholarship
recipients are excellent or needy students. The scholarships
comprise of: VND3 million (1 pack) for student who had
highest grade in graduation; VND2,5 million (12 packs) for
excellent students and VND2,5 million (10 packs) for needy
students.
This is the 8th consecutive year Prudential has presented
scholarships to students of the Economics University of HCM
under the scheme of committed program “10 year scholarship”.
The program is reversed totally worth USD45,000 for
excellent and needy students of the Economics University and
the Finance Institute of Hanoi. In the end of November,
2003, the program also delivered 29 scholarships (VND2
million/each) to students of the Finance Institute of Hanoi.
Establishing fund for scholarships is one of Prudential’s
exertions to contribute to educational development in
Vietnam. Therefore, Prudential always participates in other
educational supports such as: Chevening scholarship, Nguyen
Duc Canh scholaship, Nguyen Huu Tho scholarship…

Chief Finance Officer contest wraps up
The first chief financial officer contest helped by the HCMC
University of Economics wrapped up on 14/12/2003 with first
prize grasped by a group comprising Nguyen Xuan Truong,
Hoang Tran Thuc and Tran Hoai Nam.
The first prize winners were awarded VND6 million in cash
and a certificate of merit from the Finance and Business
Faculty, the organizer of the contest.
Runners-up Le Thi Phuong Vy, Tran Nam Dung and Nguyen Tien
Dung received VND4 million and also won a VND500,000 prize
for eloquence. There were a VND2 million third prize and six
VND1 million consolation prizes, with all of them funded by
life insurer Prudential Vietnam.
For the first time, the Finance and Business Faculty had
held such a contest to test students of the university on
their knowlegde of finance and general economics and will
make it and annual event, faculty deputy head Tran Ngoc Tho
said. The CFO contest attacted nearly 1,700 contesters.

Certificates given to participants of the 2nd "International Trade Talks in English" course
On Dec, 9th, 2003, Prudence Foundation together with
Ministry of the Interior and the British Council jointly
organised the ceremony to give certificates to participants
of the 2nd “International Trade Talks in English” course.
In the ceremony, the organizer gave cerificates to 20
participants from 11 ministries and industries such as:
Ministry of Trade, Vietnam Television, Ministry of Post and
Telecommunication, Ministry of Industry, Ministry of
Finance, State bank… This time’s certificates recipients
excelently completed the course and passed the examination
held in the end of the course by the British Council.
After the first course, the organizer and participants got
experiences and came up with useful ideas to help improve
quality of teaching method for the 2nd course. Hence, in the
closing ceremony of the 2nd course, almost all participants
acknowledged the success and the high quality of the course.

Hanoi Moi newspaper and Prudential
joint-hand to give scholarships to disabled students
In the morning of Dec 3rd, at the office of Hanoi Moi
newspaper, the newspaper and Prudential Vietnam joint-hand
to organise the 4th scholarships giving ceremony for
disabled students with attendance of Mr. Nguyen Van Phong -
Vice President of Association of Vietnamese Student; Mr. Le
Khac Hiep – Chief Relations Officer of Prudential Vietnam
and Mr. Nguyen Xuan Trinh – Editor in Chief of Hanoi Moi
newspaper.
10 scholarships, with VND1,5 million/each, were given to
disabled students, who are disabled and have difficult
conditions but exert themselves to get good results in
studying in universities, colleges in Hanoi. These
scholarships will take part in encouragement them to study
and rising themselves in life.
On behaft of scholarship recipients, Ha Thi Huyen Van,
student of French Faculty of The University of Foreign
Language thank to the concern of Prudential and Hanoi Moi
newspaper and also commit trying study better for further
contribution to country.

from 8:00-12:00 Wed, Dec 3, 03.
The operation of this center increased number of the
customer service center to 23 in nationwide. The center will
support customers in insurance transactions as well as
provide better in service to customers in the province and
neighboring areas.

Prudential contributes VND200 million to
charity activities in the middle provincesIn the
afternoon of Dec 2nd, 2003, at the office of the People’s
Committee of HCMC, Mr. Huynh Thanh Phong – CEO of Prudential
Vietnam gave to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tai – Vice President of
People’s Committee of HCMC the check worth VND200 mil to
contribute to HCMC’s humanity activities in the midde
provinces. Among which, VND100 mil will be sponsored to
persons who suffered flood (via The National Front of HCMC)
and the remain will help to get the eye-operation for poor
blind people (via The Association for support of poor
patient HCMC).
This amount was taken from Humanitarian charitable fund
which was founded in 2000 as an initiative of Prudential
Vietnam’s staff and agents who willingly donate part of
their monthly incomes in order to help relieve the hardship
of disadvantaged people. Until now, the fund subscribed
VND900 mil to use for charity purposes.
