Ho Chi Minh City, September 29, 2019 - More than 800 employees from Prudential Assurance Vietnam Private Ltd. (Prudential) participated in the 19th BBGV Fun Run for Charity held on September 29 in Ho Chi Minh City.

The ‘BBGV Fun Run for Charity’ is organised annually by the British Business Group Vietnam (BBGV) with the aim of raising funds to help underprivileged individuals and disadvantaged areas throughout the country while also encouraging sportsmanship and social connections across communities. Over 19 years, the Fun Run has welcomed more than 110,000 participants and raised more than VND11 billion VND for many charities in Vietnam.

Prudential has been a huge supporter of this annual event since it first began in 2000. Every year hundreds of staff members from the insurance company have risen early on a Sunday morning not only to help the less privileged members of society but also promote how living a healthy lifestyle will benefit us as individuals as well as our communities.

Among the 800 volunteers from Prudential at this year’s run were leaders, staff, agents and their families. As a pioneering enterprise that implements and supports many far-reaching initiatives to promote healthier lifestyles and protect the environment in Vietnam, Prudential has rolled out several long-term projects in the past.

Recently, to address a burning global issue, Prudential launched the "Building plastic free communities" project in partnership with World Wildlife Fund. That project began with detailed studies of plastic consumption throughout Vietnam to better understand people's behaviours and attitudes toward plastic. The research helped support the creation of a program that aims to change plastic consumption habits and highlight how people can contribute to a more sustainable future.

Prudential Vietnam also implemented a project called "Safe Steps - First Aid”, which has also contributed to promoting healthier lifestyles in Vietnam and created a platform that will help communities throughout the country protect the environment.

Furthermore, through 2019, Prudential has sponsored numerous activities that have benefitted thousands of participants. One event featured games integrated with first aid skills and road safety knowledge; another outlined the "true cost of plastic" to raise awareness about the impact of plastic while distributing gifts that encouraged participants to change their plastic behaviours. All of these activities were designed for both adults and children as Prudential always strives to equip families and people of all ages with useful knowledge so they can live safe, healthy and sustainable lives.

“During a journey of over 20 years, where we have contributed to the vibrant development of Vietnam through our effective business activities, Prudential has always prioritised devoting resources to support the community to help them lead healthy and fulfilling lives and better protect their families,” said Mr. Clive Baker, CEO of Prudential Vietnam.  “Promoting the importance of having a healthy lifestyle will in turn have far-reaching and positive effects for the whole of society. We firmly believe that a healthy community will help the country enjoy a sustainable, bright and prosperous future.”
