Prudential’s sustainable development and the commitment of climate change adaptation

October 22nd 2018 – at Sheraton Hotel Hanoi, Prudential Vietnam Assurance (Prudential) was honored as one of the Top 10 most sustainable enterprises of Vietnam in 2018, specialized in Trading and Service. The award has proved Prudential’s restless efforts for sustainable development, not only in business but also in community contribution and its long-term commitment on “Climate Change Adaptation and Environmental Protection”.

The recognition of honoring sustainable companies, was processed and reviewed by Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and Vietnam Business Council for Sustainable Development (VBCSD) to encourage enterprises to focus more on planning and implementing strategies for sustainable development. The measure to assess the level of sustainable development is based on the Corporate Sustainability Index (CSI), the Vietnam’s first set of indexes in this field. CSI integrates international practices, conventions, standards with Vietnamese on-going regulations, which comprehensively evaluate the performance of enterprises, emphasizing the three key factors of sustainable development including stable and efficient growth, environmental protection and social contribution.

As a role model in the insurance industry and the community, Prudential has committed to contribute to a sustainable Vietnam, not only by business operation, but also by meaningful community activities. Prudential, with strong determination, has been trusted by more than 3 millions customers across the nation in financial protection since its first footprint in Vietnam. Being honored as one of the “Top 10 most sustainable enterprises of Vietnam” in 2018, specialized in Trading and Service is another proof for Prudential’s efforts of sustainable development.

Apart from meeting the CSI’s strict criteria, Prudential is also the leading corporate participating in National Strategy on Climate Change. Most recent activity is the initiative “Building plastic waste free communities”, which is co-operated by Prudential and World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). This is also the launching project for Prudential’s strategy “Climate Change Adaptation and Environmental Protection” during 2018-2021.

Mr. Clive Baker, CEO of Prudential Vietnam, says: “For nearly 20 years since our establishment in Vietnam, Prudential has always committed to improve Vietnamese quality of life by effective financial protection solutions as well as meaningful social activities. This recognition once again underscores Prudential's sustainable development and its positive contributions to the socio-economic development of the country, which motivates us to continue our journey to improve the life quality and spread out the values of sustainability to the communities.”
