November 21st2018, at the memorial ceremony for victims who died of traffic accidents in Binh Phuoc, Prudential Vietnam Assurance Private Ltd. (Prudential) incorporated with National Traffic Safety Committee (NTSC) to present free life insurance policies and scholarships for children whose family suffered from traffic accidents. This is an activity the project named Vong tay yeu thuong – an tam tiep buoc (ROSE project).

At the memorial ceremony, Prudential issued 14 free life insurance policies for unfortunate children whose parent died of traffic accident. Besides, 25 scholarships worth VND 100 million were also donated to help them continue their education.

Vietnam is among the countries that have the second highest number of traffic accidents in the world (according to WHO’s 2017 report). There are averagely 23 people died due to traffic accidents everyday along with many other injured and permanently disabled victims. Traffic accident does not only affect families financially, but also drive their lives miserable and take education opportunities away from children. Prudential launched the ROSE project in the phase 2 of the program named “Sharing the pain of traffic accidents” held by National and Local Traffic Safety Committees (NTSC) from 2014 to 2019 in all over the country. The project’s main activity is giving free life insurance policy to each child in a poor or nearly-poor family, whose parent died of traffic accident without limit of number of children of each family until they are 18 years old. Sum assured of policy is worth 50 million VND. When the insurance event occurs, the insurance policy will support their family to reduce the financial burden, and help them to continue their academic future.

In 2018, Prudential aims to issue more than 1,500 insurance policies to about 1,000 households across the country and set aside 125 scholarships, each worth VND 4 million, to students who are beneficiaries of the project in 5 provinces with the highest traffic accident rates according to NTSC’s statistics. They are Dien Bien, Bac Giang, Binh Dinh, Quang Binh and Binh Phuoc.

Until the end of 2017, Prudential has issued and presented nearly 3,200 free insurance policies to more than 1,760 households. Prudential will continue to pay the annual premiums of these policies until their maturity. The final policy is expected to expire in 2036. The total claim paid until now is more than 1 billion dong.
